What is Circles of Support?
"Where community comes together" is the tag line of the Circles of Support program. The Circles of Support program is open to anyone in the community with the goal of developing intentional friendships. The program focuses on building a sense of community among people who would not typically know each other. While there are many provider services available to assist people, it is not the same as having a friend lending a listening ear and who genuinely cares about you. Community members volunteer their time to become a program ally to the participant members of the group. Through intentional friendship, all members of the Circles of Support program give and receive support, a helping hand and a listening ear.

“Great relationships include give and take making them reciprocal. Without trusting relationships of equality it is hard to achieve the success for the life you seek.”

“This is a place to meet people who are positive influences that want the best for their community and family."

Meeting topics may include issues on poverty, grief and loss, salvaging relationships and gambling addictions. In addition to meeting topics, the group also participates in volunteer opportunities such as serving a meal at a local shelter and playing Bingo with residents at a nursing home. We also have fun together at the Iowa Cubs game, potlucks and fishing.

“We all have something we can teach each other and share to give others knowledge.”

“You never know when a problem may arise in your family be it financial, health or otherwise, but it is the people around us who help get us through it."
