Parent Educator Program
binocularsWouldn’t it be great if newborns were sent home with a step-by-step handbook of how to raise the healthiest and happiest child possible?

Unfortunately, that is not the case, and bringing home a new baby, whether it’s the first or the fifth, is often a challenging yet rewarding process.

Through the Parent Education Project, families with children prenatal through age five receive information and guidance from a parent educator to encourage and build confidence in caring for their family.

Our parent educators meet with parents in their homes to provide information and education about child development. Visits are weekly for the first two months of enrollment, and at least once per month thereafter.

The first step with parents is to develop goals for the family and action plans to reach the goals.

Parents are given activities to complete with their children during the home visit and are provided with information and ideas to use daily in encouraging their child’s growing abilities.

Funding for the Parent Educator Project is through Polk County Empowerment, and is administered through Visiting Nurse Services.
